Staff Nurse, Bryn Mawr, PA

Staff Nurses are a critical part of our healthcare team. Their responsibilities include nursing functions during labor and delivery and the postpartum period; client education programs; and home visits with Lifecycle families. Part-time and full-time positions are available.

Qualifications

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.

Current CPR certification.

Current neonatal resuscitation certification.

Support midwifery model of care, including “natural” birth and empowerment of mothers and families.

Driver’s license and availability of insured car.

Committed to a positive, energetic, team-based approach, as well as a strong sense of compassion and humor a plus!

Previous experience in labor and delivery or with mom/baby care strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform functions of Registered Nurse at labor and birth, assisting Certified Nurse Midwives.

Provide postpartum care to parent and baby according to Lifecycle protocols.

Consult with pediatrician and CNM as needed.

Provide home visit teaching and assessment to postpartum families according to Lifecycle protocols.

Perform non-stress tests and other therapies and procedures as directed by CNM.

Assist physician in circumcisions.

Participate in client education programs at Lifecycle.

Maintain accurate medical records and participate in Quality Assurance functions.

Clinical Lead Nurse, Bryn Mawr, PA

Lifecycle is looking for a dynamic Clinical Lead Nurse to oversee the nursing activities in our Birth Suites during labor, birth, and the postpartum/early newborn phase, as well as home visits. Our clients are low risk and desire a low-intervention birth experience with support from our staff. Candidates should be invested in client autonomy and safe alternatives to typical in-hospital care, and provide leadership and guidance to their team.

The Clinical Lead Nurse will report to the Director of Clinical Services, who is a nurse-midwife. They will also have a seat on the Leadership Team at Lifecycle. Supervision of the 8-9 Registered Nurses and 4 Clinical Technicians (who clean and maintain the Birth Suites) is part of the role.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and is mainly on-site in our facility in Bryn Mawr. Most of the work will be during day shift with an occasional night shift. About 25% of your time will be direct clinical service and the rest will be administrative/mentoring/meetings. The position is benefits eligible with a generous benefits package.

Qualifications:

Successful completion of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Candidates with an Associate’s in Nursing will be considered if very experienced.

Three or more years experience in hospital or birth center, strong preference for Labor and Delivery and NICU experience.

Past experience managing staff as Charge Nurse, Head Nurse, or other managerial position.

Experience in neonatal resuscitation strongly preferred; NRP certified.

Certified in fetal monitoring.

Willing to engage in an involved and team-focused workplace, including some meetings.

Participate in continuing education to stay up-to-date on nursing standards, trends, and issues.

Ability to learn new systems.

Possess strong communication and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities:

Screen and hire, with support from the Leadership Team and staff, the Registered Nurses and Clinical Technicians.

Oversees a system of orientation for newly hired Registered Nurses and Clinical Technicians and on-going professional development for existing staff.

Provides on-going supervision of the quality of work of the Registered Nurses and Clinical Technicians.

Provides training and coaching to Birth Suite nurses.

Performs timely follow-up to any performance problems of staff and initiates performance improvement plans in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services.

Provides oversight to scheduling of the Registered Nurses and Clinical Technicians.

Stays current with policy and procedure updates/changes within the Clinical Practice Guidelines.
